I teach to enhance students’ lives through experiences of music. Regardless of professional or amateur aspirations, I believe all students may be enriched by the experience of music. To achieve this, I create a positive learning environment to foster enjoyment of the learning process and inspire lifelong musicians.
My role as a teacher is to help students develop and express their musical voice through the viola. I encourage curiosity and experiments into unusual and thought-provoking interpretations by demonstrating and guided listening. I employ Galamian principles to develop efficient and effective technique personalized to each student so that they may express their voice freely. Efficient technique means minimizing physical tension and strain, and focusing on finding physical ease so that students may continue to make music their entire lives.
